see how times flies.. now already into week 5 of the semester. in general, you would say that year 3 is not so much busy as compared to year 2's neverending projects. the toughest for now would be the final year project. it really drained a lot of his energy and more is yet to come for him. He is not afraid of it coming and barking after me. He will courage it through with all i can! Nothing can be done unless you face it and solve it by yourself! Do not say you can't do it, when you have not even try. 7 weeks worth of vacation were interchanged for 7 weeks of experience in the industrial.. and 7 weeks worth of experience in the industrial are now down to the last 7 days.. i won't miss the staffs there, but i hope that they will guide the new staff patiently well and not just detesting them.. hope to see them when i visit them soon..

it has been a week full of ups and downs.. the downs mostly came from work.. imagine how you will feel when your superior kept praising your companion in front of you, and kept commenting you negatively, how would you feel ? i could see his disappointed upsad face...
i choose to face it positively, taking his complement while letting the negative feedback of his as parts of his learning & turning point.. you will get better day by day, just be more confident in yourself.. anyway the weekend is almost here! i shall enjoy to the fullest, everyone too!!! :)

i am thankful that friday is almost coming to an end, it was a tiring one..attachment is already at it's boiling point. hopefully i can survive the remaining 6 weeks.. looks like the blank piece of art gonna have colours filling in..then went in there for some zombie exercise, walking up and down. the funniest was sitting in there with less than 5 minutes, informed that i'm not needed for the storytelling and can be dismiss! oh my.. but at least my evening was a cool ride around one of the busiest industrial estate.. good night and rest well :)

first attempt..

well.. today was my first attempt in the 'real' world. all the while in the campus was 'imaginary'. i am attached to a surveying instrument company. you may be wondering what are surveying instruments ? if you pay attention when you are driving or sitting in the bus, sometimes on the road you can see contractors with bangala, peeking their eyes through instruments supported by a big tripod. They are actually measuring the smoothness and distance, demarketed by a pole at measuring end.

Basically first day was always assigned with simple tasks. Dry-washing of automatic level was simply dismantling the auto sets and clean them. but staring at the instruments and inside a room for a shift was not easy to get over with. but luckily the people there was friendly and willing to teach. especially the boss, the funniest encounter of all, he asked me questions in dialect : ' hokkien' , and i replied back with english.. haha =) hope to work well with you guys..

just one last paper and i can leave those books and notes aside for about 2 months. YEAH!!! =) industrial attachment will be right up next, at least i get to change the things i see for 2 months, from bulky notes to something more interesting at the moment, to maybe instruments. from a mugger to a "acting engineer" a mugger will always say that working is better and having a working life will always say that mugging is better. well , that's human natural instinct. whatever we do, always give our best ! ...yesh!! Maestro Fc was mentioned on The Newpaper on 20/02/2009, Friday. We clinched the 2nd place behind the leader Bacalava Fc for the 2008 campaign. Medal presentation ceremony will be held tomorrow, just before our training.. hohoho!! updates coming up.. stay tune :)

hopefully the upcoming new season will be a good for us ! cheerio~

it was almost a weekday .

sad to say that, even though today is a saturday, but it seems that it was almost a normal school day than a weekend. the day started off with projects, meeting my member at bishan library early in the morning. the discussion was well taken care, but soon our brain had no more stamina to carry on and we decided to endex. luckily we finish a portion of it. after brunch, went back home and pressed on to my assignments without any further delays. after finishing my scripts for a skit for the coming thursday, went to take a 15 minutes nap on sun tanning chair before i hit the track for a 5km run. i wished that i could run longer, knowing that it was an excuse for escaping from my loads of works.

with mum's ready cooked dishes, i simply warm them up and started my dinner. i also powered up my hi-fi set with " The Fray" album that i loaned from the school last Friday. with music and good dinner, i was enjoying, taking my sweet times even i am alone. enough of enjoyment and i went back to mugs...

happy moo year to everyone~
today is day 1 of the chinese new year, as usual from the past years went to grandma's house in the afternoon, where everyone will gather together. grandma looks weaker and weaker day by day. i hope that her health will be as strong as a ox. god bless her. in the past years, day 1 of chinese new year was really boring to death. there were no conversations between the relatives, it was even harder to start any simple conversations. i still remember in the early childhood days, when our grandpa was still around, we were much much more closer. every sunday we will always gather together at grandpa's house and play like crazy, and grandpa will always bring us to the mama shop right below the block and buy us toys and sweets. but when he passed away, all these stopped happening, and there were conflicts between the adults which drifted the cousins further and further. so days before this lunar new year, i told myself i gotta make something different.

like what i expected from myself, there are no more barriers between us, we started off with standard conversations like : where are you working/studying ? and soon jokes and laughters etc.. with what had occurred today, i hope that in the future will have more interactions between each other.

i always hate mondays especially early in the morning whereby you have lecture and you have difficulties understanding what the lecturer is trying say. Gosh ! " System buses , to turn on and turn off, the computer system (all slang with his style), " but sometimes these simple sentences can lead us to great laughters and by the way it was programming lecture whereby human communication with the machines~ but the time did passed me fast.. soon i reached home and had dinner with mom and dad .. the dishes was marvellous =) but seriously i just can't wait for my FRIDAY to be here, best if it is tomorrow !!! why can't it be tomorrow !!! =(=(

inconjunction with Singapore Polytechnics Open House 2009, SPinnovex 2009 was there too! it is to display students' final year project, only those top graded projects will be in this in house exhibition. as l walked around, i am being amazed by the projects being done by the seniors, they are really awesome! their ideas. their creation. their innovation. wonderful atmosphere ! i am really being motivated by them, ideas and ideas have been started running through my mind till now. looking at now, year 2 will be over very soon. but even before year 3 starts, i got to start working on it already. all the best !!! oil tank full!!! previous sundays was feeling shitty whenever it is evening time, because blue monday is overtaking lovely precious sunday and it means that i got to start work soon. five journey long weekdays before it reaches my favourite friday. but today back from cage soccer, it was really a total different feelings. no more being annoyed by the blue monday. no more being annoyed by the journey long weekdays. because i have a lot more precious lookouts...

year 2008 was a year that somehow marks the future for me.. one of the huge event that happened was signing the career bond with the Republic Of Singapore Air Force. although some of my peers were questioning me, why air force ? why not SIA ? is it because of money ? my reason was simple, i like military life. that's for sure, no one can take that away from me. and because i am persuding aeropace related diploma and it is a more stable job although i need to work right from the very bottom and climb step by step upwards.

i also realized that i had changed a lot. from a more shy guy, to a more willing to speak-up guy. all thanks to the generation leadership camp hosted by the campus. i learned a lot from the camp. i found out that, for someone who is more shy internally, he need to pick up that courage and to speak up and it's not easy initially. and partly is because of maestro fc. the team gave me a chance to be the vice-captain for the team and let me explosed to numerous leadership values, with the guidances from fellow mates and friends.i really treasure this team and hope we can go far in the near future.

the above mentioned, were the most significant events that happened in the year 2008.i hope that year 2009 will be a good year for every single folks.

it will be another tough year, be prepare and ready to face it.

it was a ugly sunday. players throwing punches and kicks to my team players. i was stunt and yet doing nothing. i saw him grabbed by the opponents, and i rushed towards him and try to break away the fights. but it didn't work and more of them trying to punch him. i hugged one of them and felt a light punch on my elbow.luckily it was stopped, i could not imagine what if it gets worse. alan, i hope that you are alright.

how was christmas eve for you ? it was an eventful night, with foods and games . most importantly logcakes, it was fully filled with dark chocolates. damn thick.
how was christmas day for you ? well, sad to say i slept away half the day. but luckily i had a nice evening with my family. a simple dinner followed by a movie, ip man. ip man was bruce lee's master whom he learned wing chun from.
how was boxing day for you ? well, returned to campus for some project touched up. at least 85% was done, only left a minor portion. and ended my night off with my favourite liverpool match and they won 3-0 to bolton wanders !!! : "You'll never walk alone!!!"

it is a muggie saturday :> not really very bored, feeling positive when opened those coursebooks and past year papers and that is a good sign ! and it is just another 8 days, counting down to war again. will be loaded and really for it. almost forgotten to update, i sign up for the adidas sundown marathon 2009. it's a unique marathon. basically running while people sleeping. this is my first night marathon, shall train well and excel ! and yesterday's newspaper saying that more sports and running events are coming up in year 2009. shall look forward to all too. for now, off to running..

once again, i did it once and good ! hahah... i passed my final theory test (FTT), a step closer getting my license.. i only started to read through the "advanced theory of driving" since last weekend after my common test. when i flipped through those pages, it brought me back to those army days when i drove a armour vehicle, regardless of rain or shine, armouring through those forest and mud-pools. oh my! it was damn cool! well, those were the days, think i those have the chance to touch them anymore..

couldn't managed to print out result slip due to the machine fault, instead i uploaded the test script.. the result will be mail to be tomorrow..

after having brunch with yiting and jingping at chinatown, we crossed over to Seventh Heaven down at 10 Raeburn Park (former Gan Eng Seng secondary school) for some ice-cream delights..

not only does they served normal favours , but also with alcohol contents like whiskey and vodka more suitable for alcoholics..

in the evening we went down to town to hunt for turkeys and log-cakes (anyone got lobang ??), preparing for the christmas party and snap some shots before backing to crib..

always enjoyed to hanging out with the ladies.. shall meet up soon again..

went to town to get soccer boots and accessories with maestro fcians..we got it at a really good price man! all thanks to walter's lobang hahah..before heading home, we went to raffles city snacks and drink..we saw this mini salvation army donation booth with the star wars characters,can't really remember their names, but they look cool and we decided to donate some $$$ and we were entitled to take pictures with them..

wow ! finally common tests are all over, but so how feeling uncomfortable after those papers.. can relax slightly now but not totally, i still got projects and reports on hand, for now totally moodless to think about that.. just wanna sit down at a coffee house and have a cup of hot coffee and reading my novels.. i just got 3 novels off the shelves from borders, purchase 2 title and get the third free.. i suppose it was a good catch, without hesitation i made my payment at the cashier.. previously i read novels authored by Nora Roberts.. she is a great author who always paints her scene and character nicely and perfectly, it all gives me a third dimension when reading her masterpiece.. but this time round, i picked on other authors, want to explore how they paint their story.. well, the 3 weeks of holiday is just sufficient, want to learn to cook new dishes from mom, but don't know when she will be free to impart her skills :> i also need to drop-by ubi driving centre to take my final theory next thursday, but i have not prepare yet haha.. having 2 e-trial test before the actual one.. should have enough time.. all these i believe in doing it once, doing it good.. then will be whacking korean drama again !! my favourite and is a must to have during vocations, i also take the opportunity to brush up my understanding also.. think i threw back all those basic to my lecturer :x opps..

nowadays, youth love to doll up themselves, makeups, dress up, smart wears, punk wears, all that you dig out from the fashion dictionary, but none of you will think of your dear lecturers will as hip or hipper than you. " who says lecturers can't wear extraordinary?" this is what i encountered in one of my practical lesson today, the lecturer wore so shockingly that he wow the class. he wore like a cowboy. with cowboy hat, with cowboy scarf on his neck, with a cowboy shirt down to his wrist, brown belt along his old black jeans and a leather pair of cowboy shoes. with his cowboy knowledges, we will be very skillful, hopefully not thrusting ropes but academically.

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'

DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.

SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.

SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'

DAD: 'If you must know, I make $50 an hour.'

SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.

SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $25?'

The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.

The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down , and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $25.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.

'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $25 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.

'Daddy, I have $50 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to

have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $50 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

first of all, loads of thanks to guys who belong to team L.I.F.E ,where lots of impossible were made possible. remembered those wee hours @ room 325 preparing for the drama "the youth olympics" and the props. most importantly what i observed is the team spirit among us...
it's not about having the best people and just putting them together - it's about a group of people who can work as a team...

newton's lore

Grantham is a market town in the English county of Lincolnshire. Its most famous son is Sir Isaac Newton, one of the foremost scientists on world history. A statue of the great man stands proud and erect in the town centre, with the name "Newton" chiselled boldly below. That name has haunted me from birth, seems to have governed my life, and will, i believe, be with me until the day i die. All i relate now is true. There are many streets in Grantham, but i was born on Newton street. Every school day until i was 12, i passed Newton's statue on my way to and from school. From the moment i set eyes on that marble figure i experienced the strangest reaction. A chill would come over to me and the hair on the back of my neck would stand up. I'd feel compelled to stare into the eyes of the statue, and i'd feel the name Newton burning into my brain. It honestly felt as if Newton was drawing me into the statue's stone.

As a small boy, i became frightened by this almost daily experience and confided in my parents. They suggested that i take a different route to school and avoid the statue altogether. This was sensible advice, but nonetheless i found it difficult to follow. My fascination with the statue occupied my thoughts even when i was nowhere near it.

As my 12th birthday approached, i was informed that i had passed the grammar school entry exams. I was sent off to The King's School, which Isaac Newton attended, and on my first day there was duly assigned to on of the six sporting houses. Mine, of course, was Newton House.

About a year later, as part of school project, about 60 of us in my year were divided into small groups and sent to local government and council offices for the day, to see how the system worked. It was pot luck where anyone was sent. Four of us were dispatched to the town museum, where each of us were given a section to clean and rearrange for display. Mine was the section devoted to, sure enough, "The Life and Works of Isaac Newton."

At 14, I was unexpectedly made a last-minute replacement in the school first XI during a cricket match. A team member had suddenly become ill and i was the nearest boy who had his kit handy. I went in to bat, smiledat the 17- and 18-year-olds who surrounded me, and slashed away every ball.

My eye was in and luck was with me. Together with my partner, we established a new school record for a last-wicket stand. My proud partner, Titch, so called because of his size, had the last name Newton.

At the age of 18, I was called up for national service in the Royal Air Force (RAF). After basic and trade training, I was given my permanent posting. There were hundreds of RAF stations in Britain and around the world, and i could have been sent to any one of them. I was sent to RAF Newton.

After national service, I joined the Nottingham Police Force. It was up to the police administration to find suitable lodgings for its young single officers.Nottingham is a big city with a vast network of streets. But i was sent to an address on Newton Street.

In January 1958, I went to the palais de Dance in Nottingham, a place of sumptuous decor and, at that time, the most popular of the city's dance halls. Among the many women there, one beauty especially enchanted me and, at the earliest opportunity, I asked her to dance. To my delight, she accepted and we exchanged first names.

Later, after a few dances, we paused for coffee and, to pass the time, I told Jean the story of how Newton had been a constant companion all my life. Jean looked incresingly amused - I was delighted that she found me so entertaining."You won't believe this," she said when I'd had finished, "but my full name is Jean Newton."She gazed at me with delight as i felt the hair on my neck prickle again. It seems incredible, but a voice from somewhere, very clear, was telling me i was looking at my future wife.

A few weeks later, upon meeting Jean's mother, I was informed that Jean's great-grandfather had been born and raised in the tiny village of Woodsthorpe, just outside Grantham. So had Isaac Newton. In Fact, his manor house is still there. I later contacted the caretaker at the church closest to Woolsthorpe, who made enquires through the parish records on my behalf. Jean's family, as it transpired, was almost certainly of Sit Isaac Newton's line
Jean and I have been married for 49 years now, but i still wonder about the strange force, generated by Sir Isaac's image, that took control of my life from an early age. Could the scientist have selected me to marry one of his descendants? After all, Sir Isaac Newton was one of the greatest minds that ever lived, capable of understanding the forces that govern the universe and also able to prove them scientifically. Who can imagine what other universal secrets he unearthed in his lifetime? Was my life just a string of coincidences?

We'll never know...

RSAF Open House celebrating 40th Anniversary

it's RSAF Open House @ paya lebar airbase till this sunday,31 august 2008.
it was a trip there with the school. fighter planes like f-15 , hercules c130 and chinook are free for photos, aerial display and carnivals for u to walk around and know more about the air force, there are also demonstration of using software like 'globe arc' and plan routes for the aircrafts and many more. do drop by.you are strongly advised to take public transports as there are limited car park lots. by mrt : hougang station - take free shuttle service @ hougang bus interchange, eunos station - take free shuttle service @ eunos bus interchange, toa payoh station - take SBS service 90 @ toa payoh bus interchange. by bus : take SBS service 90 and 94and alight opposite Air Force Museum or by taxi. just a reminder, do visit the open house empty-handed as you will be asked to empty your pockets etc for photo shoots on the aircrafts...
